MY VISIT TO KAVRE

We were taken to the Kavre to learn about silk-worm. The students of grade 10 (both from Tilicho and Rara ) were shown and learned more about seri-culture. It was fortunate to go there. The excursion remained excellent and got chance to learned peaceful and beautiful environment. The compound was big and sufficient to do sericulture. There was office near the farm. We saw only the farming of seri silkworm( Bombyx mori ) which feed on mulberry leaves. The green leaves of mulberry trees were amazing and it has increase the beautyness. There we saw the silk of silkworm, materials and machine required for the processing of thread. After visiting the field we were given a class about silkworm.

I am really grateful and thankful to my class teacher(Deepak sir) for giving us chance to share our experience and understanding on the blog. According to that class,I have tried to express my knowledge about sericulture in short in this blog. According to  my understanding, sericulture is the process of rearing silkworm on commercial scale. Silkworm is the small invertebrate insect. In Nepal, mainly there are two types of silkworm are cultivated i.e. seri silkworm(Bombyx mori) and eri silkworm(Attacus ricini). Morely seri silkworm is cultivated. It was found that it is more easy to cultivate. The silkworm shows complete metamorphosis in their life cycle that egg, larva, pupa and adult. Larva is a voracious feeder and moults for 4-5 times. Whereas in other stage larva cannot feed. We were told us that eating 3 chicken is equal to 1 larva. It means that it is highly nutritious rich in protein.

Lastly, I concluded that seri-culture is beneficial for the economic purpose in the context of Nepal. So it should be increased in Nepal. Getting all this information and showing live of all this things could not have possible if our teacher have not given us chance. For providing this kind of facilities and practical education for all the students we are grateful to our all the teachers.

Thank you!!!
